Parental Information

  • In order to help your child/children enjoy their club and swimming
Come along and watch and encourage them. Prospective new members are welcome to try out for two weeks before they are required to affiliate as members of the Club. The Club accepts no responsibility for the behaviour or safety of children unsupervised by parents.
  • Read the Club handbook
Each child is given a Club Handbook on joining our Club. Everything you need to know about our Club is written in this book!!!! You can also encourage your child to write their weekly times in the space provided at the back of the book, so they can see easily how they are improving on their times. The Handbook also helps your child understand what Club is all about.
  • Volunteer for timekeeping
We need 15 timekeepers each night, 3 per lane, otherwise our childrens times can not be used for external meets. As long as we have 3 times on every child's race the Recorders send them to SWA on a weekly basis to be put on their web site. Swimmers can then use these times for other meets. The Chief Timekeeper will be pleased to show you how to operate a stopwatch. Time keeping is also a great way to meet other parents at our Club If you volunteer to time keep, sign the form at the Reception desk as you enter the pool area and you do not have to pay pool entry. However if you do not wish to timekeep are fees do not cover pool entry so this still has to be paid.
  • Fees, what do theycover                The fees are assesed on a yearly basis. Aproximately 2/3 of the fees is for Swimming WA. , this enables your child to swim at external meets and compete against other swimmers from different Clubs. It also means your child is covered by insurance if they were to have an accident whilst swimming at our Club or at external meets. The other 1/3 of the money goes towards things such as buying the children Trophies at the end of the season or hiring buses to take our swimmers as a group to a meet. The fees cover your child for both the winter and summer season! We still need to do fundraising throughout the year to cover extra costs such as the DJ we use on Trophy night and the committee welcomes any new and fun ideas on raising money.
  • Read the notice board and newsletter regularly
We have a weekly newsletter that has all the up to date information in it. If you are well informed, your children will benefit. Computer print-outs of swim results will be on display on the notice board each club night. Don’t hesitate to ask one of the Committee Members if you need any advice or information.
  • Remember
You are only an outsider if you want to remain on the outside. Monthly meetings are held at 7:30pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Members and parents are welcome to attend to discuss, query, initiate or assist in running the Club. Decisions are made democratically at the meetings. If you have any issue that should be brought to the attention of the committee do this without delay and without undermining the committee. Small issues can become major problems if they are not attended to straight-away.
