Swimmers wishing to join the Club must be able to swim 25 metres in any stroke. There is no time limit but the distance should be completed without touching the side or bottom of the pool.
In order to affiliate with the club the swimmer must produce a birth certificate to prove date of birth, confirm that they can swim the required distance, pay the membership fee and hand in a completed enrolment form with all details completed.
Swimmers can "try out" for two weeks before having to register as a member. However, after 2 weeks, if your child wishes to join they must submit their membership forms otherwise they will not be able to compete. Parents are encouraged to join as non-competitive members as this will give them liability insurance if they were to have an accident when their child is competing. If new members are interested in entering external swim meets it is recommended that they discuss this with their coach. If they do not have a coach they should initially enter “AB” meets or meets that do not have qualifying times. It is recommended that you discuss what meets you should enter with the Club. Thornlie Swimming Club encourages every swimmer to attend meets that they are going to as a Club. The committee decides each year which meets they will be targetting as a Club meet and everyone will be informed of yhis in the weekly newsletter.
