Poolside Behaviour / Bullying Policy
POOLSIDE BEHAVIOUR
To make the club nights run smoothly, all swimmers should stay in the Marshalling Area. Other facilities in the centre are OUT OF BOUNDS on club night. If you have to leave the marshalling area for any reason please tell the marshal. The marshal has a difficult job, noise must be kept to a minimum. Any unruly behavior may incur penalties, such as loss of Club points.
When a swimmer has been given their event and lane, they need to tell the timekeeper their full name. They should then move to the starting block and await instructions from the Officials. It is important not to obstruct the officials running the meet.
At the sound of the whistle for the start, please remain quiet. This enables everyone to hear the Starters instructions, thus giving no one any extra advantage. DO NOT walk in front of the timekeepers.
BULLYING POLICY
(The following extract has been adapted from the Lumen Christi College Bullying Harassment Handout Sheet and where appropriate we have made amendments)
Thornlie Swimming Club has introduced a policy against bullying. Every swimmer has the right the feel safe. Bullying, which can occur in a number of ways, takes away this sense of safety. Thornlie Swimming Club will not tolerate bullying and will investigate the matter and seek a solution. A swimmer who is subject to harassment MUST tell an appropriate person (parent, official or club captain).
