2010 Life Membership Nominations

Life membership nominations are now open and are due one month prior to the Annual General Meeting. Please find attached the Life Membership nomination form should you wish to nominate a member for life membership. Nominations due by Monday 27th September at 5pm.

Medal Carriers

We are seeking four (4) junior swimmers to be the medal carriers for this weekend’s Short Course Open Championships. We would require two on each day between 9am and 1pm. If you have any young swimmers who would like to take part in the Open Champs we would be delighted to have them. 2010 Hancock Family Medical Foundation Junior Short Course Championships - Wrap Up

The 2010 Hancock Family Medical Foundation Junior Short Course Championships were held at Challenge Stadium from the 21st and 22nd August. 294 athletes aged from 8 to 12 took part in the 2 day event with 74% of these young swimmers achieving improved times and breaking a total of 19 state records.
Australian Unity GO Club Presidents Meeting

The board have been undertaking a major review of our corporate governance with the support of an external consultant and the Department of Sport and Recreation. As part of this review we have also been updating the Swimming WA Strategic plan, utilising the feedback from our clubs at the forum in May as a catalyst.

The SWA board are keen to ensure input from our clubs into the Strategic plan, with the aim to this finalised prior to the Annual General Meeting which has been scheduled for the 28th October 2010. The board will be hosting a President?s Forum on Thursday 9th September to seek input into the corporate governance review and our strategic planning. The forum will be held at the Department of Sport and Recreation ? Vincent Street, Leederville at 6pm.

Venues West have advised that Challenge Stadium and the surrounding UWA sports grounds will be exceptionally busy this weekend. All swimmers and spectators for the State Short Course Swimming Championships are encouraged to arrive at Challenge early and to enter the venue through the front entrance, not the back way (via the UWA grounds). September will see a WA team of 31 swimmers, 4 coaches and 2 team managers travelling to the AIS Aquatic Centre, Canberra to compete at the 2010 Australian State Team Age Short Course Championships. The event will be held over a three day weekend from the 18th to 20th September.

The ACGA today announced the final list of swimmers for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi (October 3-14) following last week?s Pan Pacific Championships, with 31 members of 52-strong team set to make their Commonwealth Games debut for Australia.
